Finding out that your child has a life-limiting condition is one of the hardest pieces of news for any family. The professionals who support them aren’t simply providing medical and nursing care for sick children, but enriching the lives of children and their families in the precious time they have together. Dr Charlotte Mellor is a consultant at Bristol Children’s Hospital and lead of their new paediatric palliative care service. In conversation with Philippa Bayley she shares with us some of the inspiring and challenging moments of her team’s work, and reveals lessons for us all as parents and carers.
